About

Hi, I’m Josh.

I’ve been on the front lines of sync since 2007 when I landed my first placement as an artist. More than 100 followed in shows like Grey’s Anatomy and The Hills (remember The Hills?!?). I was also one of the first artists to embrace “micro-sync” back in 2009 (NPR even covered it).

After I “retired” from being an artist, I co-founded and built one of the leading sync licensing companies, Sorted Noise. We landed over 1,000 syncs in Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Glee, The Big Bang Theory, and This Is Us, as well as major campaigns for Google, Chase, and IKEA.

Today, I’m VP of Music at Soundstripe, a global, tech-driven licensing platform that has issued over 20 million (!!!) licenses worldwide.

It’s been a wild ride. I’ve learned what works in sync… and more importantly, what doesn’t.

During COVID, I created a course around these do’s and don’ts called “The 12 Immutable Laws of Sync.” (or, “Synch” with an H for my British friends). I filmed it, but like many pandemic passion projects, I moved on to other things and never released it… until now.

No cost. No opt-in. No mailing list. No gimmicks. Just the Laws.

Whether you’re chasing your first sync or your hundredth - artist, songwriter, manager, licensing rep, label, publisher - there’s something here for you.

Enjoy and share! And I dunno, maybe give me a Follow on LinkedIn if you’re feeling kind 😉
